CELEBRATING 10 YEARS OF POOLE REGATTA

The Combined Yacht Clubs of Poole this year celebrate 10 years of Poole Regatta which since 2006 has had International Paint as title sponsor. The first Poole regatta was held in 2000 to celebrate in the Millenium and attracted over 100 boats, since then the event has doubled in size with over 200 entries expected for the International Paint Poole Regatta 2010 which takes place over the Whitsun bank holiday weekend 29th-31st May.

This years event encompasses a number of prestigious class championships including:-

  • Sigma 38 Nationals
  • MOCRA Nationals
  • 2.4m National Tidal Championship
  • J24 Spring Cup and World Team Qualifier
  • Sonata Southern Area Championship
  • Shrimper Southern Area Championship
  • Wessex Quarter Ton Championship
  • Dehler Cup

In addition there will be three IRC divisions, 2 PHHS (Local Handicap) Divisions, Gentlemans Class and class starts for XOD, Flying 15, Redwings and R19.

Toe in the Water have joined forces with Poole Regatta this year and the organising committee have decided that 15% of all entry fees will be donated to the charity to help it continue with its excellent work re-inspiring and re-integrating injured servicemen and women.

This year a water taxi service has will be running between the Yacht Clubs and marinas to help competitors get to the daily prize givings and evening social events.

On Friday 28th May between 1600 and 2000 a Rib will be stationed at Poole harbour entrance to welcome visiting yachts and help direct them to their berths at the clubs or Poole Yacht Haven on Poole Quay where regatta representatives will be helping the marina staff.

A range of regatta clothing is now available and can be ordered via a link on the event website. As well as the usual polo shirts there will be sweat shirts and hoodies embroidered with the event and Toe in the Water logos and can be customised with boat names and sail numbers.

During the next fortnight over 1000 Notices of Race will be posted to potential entrants. The NOR. will also be downloadable from the newly revamped website www.pooleregatta.co.uk where the latest news and information will be regularly updated
