POOLE REGATTA ENCOMPASSES NATIONAL SAILING EVENTS
Many quality national fleets are looking to the 2010 Poole Regatta as an opportunity to hold their prestigious national and regional events. The J24 class have confirmed that next year’s regatta will be a World Championship Qualifier. The Multihull Offshore Cruising & Racing Association (MOCRA) and the Sigma 38 class are holding their National Championships also the 2.4m class are holding their National Tidal Championships as part of the event. The Regatta is hosting the Dehler Cup and local sailmakers Crusader Sails are providing a trophy for the Quarter Ton Class. Several other classes including the National Sonatas are in discussion with the organisers about incorporating their championships within the regatta. As well as Class and One Design racing, there will be a number of IRC and locally rated classes that non-rated boats will enter. At least three race areas will be arranged in Poole Bay and one within Poole Harbour for the smaller boats.
Poole Regatta 2010 is delighted to welcome Toe in the Water as their benefiting and participating charity. Toe in the Water have impressed everyone with the way that they have provided competitive sailing opportunities for injured servicemen and women as part of their rehabilitation. The organising committee will be donating part of each entry fee to Toe In The Water.
As well as the sailing events during the day there is a full social programme in the evenings with food, drink and live entertainment at Poole and Parkstone Yacht Clubs.
The International Paints Poole Regatta 2010 is being run over the bank holiday weekend 29th-31st May by The Combined Yacht Clubs of Poole with generous sponsorship of International Paints plus support from a number of local companies.
